Vancouver 28 Overview
The Vancouver 28 is a small but strong ocean cruising yacht. I purchased ‘Fathom’ in June 2013 on the East Coast of the U.K. A comprehensive refit was undertaken during 2014, 2015 and 2016 in preparation for solo and short handed ocean sailing.
The Vancouver 28’s design incorporates a heavy displacement hull form, with a long encapsulated keel and cutaway forefoot which is biased towards stability, ease of handling, load carrying ability and comfortable accommodation. A small deep cockpit provides security in a heavy sea. Being cutter rigged sail area is split between mainsail, staysail and yankee/genoa which are easily handled.
Down below there is a wet locker, full size chart table, good ventilation from three funnel vents, excellent stowage and over 6’1″ headroom in the main cabin. Fathom has the three berth layout with a bunk either side of the main cabin, quarterberth and heads forward.
